Mac OS is preconfigured to allow only apps downloaded from the App Store to be run. Since many imaging apps are independently developed and don't come from the App Store, you may be prevented from running the app. You must approve each app the first time you run it.

In this case, open the Security & Privacy control panel.

Click the padlock and unlock the control panel with your password. Change the option to allow 'App Store and identified developers'. You'll also see an option to run the program you recently were prevented from opening. Click 'Open anyway' to run the app.

You'll be presented with one last dialog box. Click 'Open' to open the app.
